Lawyers, as providers of certain personal services, are required by the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act to inform their clients of their policies regarding privacy of client information. I understand your concerns as a client for privacy and the need to protect the privacy of all your information. Your privacy is important to me and maintaining your trust and confidence is a high priority. Of course, lawyers have been and continue to be bound by professional standards of confidentiality that are even more stringent than those required by the Act.
As well, websites that collect personal information in most cases are required to provide a notice to users regarding the collection and use of personal information.
The purpose of this notice is to explain the firm's Privacy Notice with regard to personal information about you that I obtain, and how I keep that information secure.
NONPUBLIC PERSONAL INFORMATION I COLLECT
I collect nonpublic personal information about you that you provide to me or that I obtain with your authorization or consent, including in the course of providing services to you.
I do not disclose any nonpublic personal information about my clients or former clients to anyone, except as expressly or impliedly authorized by those clients to enable me to effectuate the purpose of my representation, or as required or permitted by law or applicable provisions of codes of professional responsibility or ethical rules governing my conduct as a lawyer.
INFORMATION COLLECTED ONLINE
Information you provide through the "Contact" feature on the website is managed and handled using the same protections as all other information received by the firm.
The site is built and hosted by GoDaddy, and GoDaddy uses Google reCaptcha for website security, including on the Contact page. GoDaddy enables users to make choices regarding cookies when visiting websites they host. KLC Law does not use marketing or analytics platforms or services, including Google, and the firm does not have access to any of the information from any cookies placed by GoDaddy, including any Google Analytics information.
Links from the website to external sites, such as to LinkedIn, will be governed by those sites' privacy notices.
CONFIDENTIALITY AND SECURITY
In order to guard your confidential information, including nonpublic personal information, I maintain physical, technical, and administrative safeguards that comply with my professional standards.
RETENTION OF INFORMATION
I retain records relating to professional services that I provide so that I am better able to assist you with your professional needs and to comply with professional guidelines or requirements of law. I retain information for the period of time required by law and by professional guidelines, which in most cases is seven years following the conclusion of all representation. If you want to move your representation to another lawyer/law firm, I will accommodate that by either providing you with a copy of your file or sending it to your new representation directly, at your choice. I may still have to retain certain information, even though I no longer represent you, as required by law or ethics obligations. All information retained is subject to ongoing professional and confidentiality obligations.
