I've been fortunate throughout my career to work in different industries and for organizations from small to Fortune 100, helping those organizations build and maintain their privacy and information protection programs. That comes with a lot of expertise in other areas, as well: contracts, compliance, information governance and records management, corporate governance, finance, mergers and acquisitions -- it's amazing how many parts of a business privacy and information management touch.
After almost 20 years in-house in Texas and then Minnesota, I started KLC Law to address what I saw as a big gap in the marketplace: the ability of small- and medium-sized businesses to get appropriate, actionable privacy and information protection legal advice and counsel at rates that would allow those businesses to develop a relationship with their lawyer.
It's difficult for a small business to "just pick up the phone and ask a question" at the rates they are afraid they will be charged. Since KLC Law, LLC has little overhead, our rates can be a bit lower than national firms on average. This helps encourage relationship-building, allowing us to provide advice to our clients that acknowledges their business reality.
